Jordan × DTLR
Concept × Design
When Jordan Women collaborated with DTLR for a pop-up shop in New Orleans during the Essence Festival of Culture, the initial concept was to build a beauty supply store catering to black women.
Inspired by the bold graphics of mid-90’s fashion trends and the dense organization of a beauty shop, everything was designed with an eye toward cultural authenticity.
From the first round of concepts, we were dedicated to the details.
Printing × Production
With the location secured, the next challenge was to lay out and fill the storefront. The exterior windows were skinned with bold graphics. The interior was refreshed with classic retail displays and plenty of shelving.
Thousands of custom-designed product packages were meticulously stacked, hung, and organized throughout every available inch.
Greeting the visitors upon entry, enormous golden bamboo earrings framed around a Jumpman.
Jordan products were featured prominently, offering our guests a chance to get their hands on the latest Jordan drop.
Programming
Our pop-up beauty shop remained open for four straight days during the Essence Festival of Culture.
A private party kicked off the event. Invited guests and influencers could collect customized product, including chain stitching and heat-pressed graphics. A wall of wigs served as a backdrop for our photobooth. And everyone was invited to take home a bundle of once-in-a-lifetime Jordan pieces.
